If you are trying to implement Windows 10 in a pooled/unpersistent VDI environment you will recognize that the logon performance is really bad. After some speed tests, I could find some settings which have impact the logon process.
- The second logon (different user) is much faster, than the first one. So try to include a first login in the pooled image.
2:10 First Login with user Thomas
Reboot
1:35 First logon with user Hans - The logons are faster, when the user waits for two minutes after the logon screen is displayed.
2:10 First Login with user Thomas
Reboot
Wait 2 minutes on logon screen
1:20 First logon with user Hans - When you uninstall the most of the built-in apps the logon time can be reduced by 50%.
2:10 First Login with user Thomas
Reboot
Wait 2 minutes on logon screen
0:40 First logon with user Hans
After a lot of tries I haven’t found a sign, that disabling the first logon animation has an impact on the logon speed. Creating a Default profile can improve the logon time again, but only by a few seconds. Important is, that you sanitize your default boot image according to James Rankin.
I hope this tips will help you to speed up your logins. If you have other tips, please share them in the comments.
